As a lifelong Trio fan, possessing probably 90% of their music, including some of the recent stuff, I feel John Stewart was arguably the greatest musician/songwriter/singer of all its members thru the years.
Like many others I thought the group might wither and die when Dave Guard quit the Trio in 1962.
John Stewart joined and quickly became a favorite, injecting the group with new songs, fresh harmonies and improved instrumantal work.
The combination of Stewart, Reynolds and Shane is still my favorite of all the Trio's various incarnations of 50 plus years.
I am saddened --------------
