7 Yr. Old Boy Shoots 8 yr. old Cousin

BOSTON -- (Associated Press) -- A 7-year-old boy fatally shot an 8-year-old cousin while they were playing with an illegal, unregistered gun at home, authorities said.

EDITORIAL COMMENT: BIRCHES encourages all parents to get their guns registered. Unregistered guns are not proper toys for small children. In fact, we would support a law that jails children who are playing with unregistered guns. This could turn out to be a chance to help these kids learn about gun safety. They could be jailed in schools and taught how to shoot in the gym. A couple of years of gun training in children's prisons, and there wouldn't be so many of these senseless accidents.
