Folksy Stuff (2)

Felix from Indiana - is coming to Michigan. The place may never be the same.

Jerry - sends what is being called, "Maybe the best quote for 2007." It's from Chris Rock, supposedly, and I like it, so here it is:

"You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the
best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss
hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany
doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are
named Bush, Dick, and Colon."

Alice- the teacher, who is very very kind-hearted, is finally done with school for the summer. Now maybe she'll have more time to read blogs. Like mine for example. She owes me a meal at a restaurant for my birthday present, but I think she's avoiding the subject.

Marsha in Carolina - is disappointed that two of her favorite baseball teams, the University of South Carolina and the University of Michigan, have been knocked out of the College World Series of Baseball. And so are we here in the forest. We've cheered for both teams this year. We're going to meet Marsha in Philadelphia next week to have an "adventure."

Dig----- S. - is writing about the new court decision in the al-Marri case in which a Qatari citizen living in the United States has been in military custody for 4 years without proper court proceedings. He has been ordered released on the grounds that he is not a prisoner of war and so is caught in one of those Bush legal traps which are more-and-more turning out to be ILLEGAL. D.S. says: "A return to reason and the rule of law."

Dashman - is still involved in that jury trial, and as a member of the jury, is making a lot of mental notes for a later report which we plan to cover, here under the birches. He is also complaining about the ending to the Sopranos. Or is he? So many people are unsure.

Scot and Trase - are planning a trip out east sometime this summer with family and friends. The Adirondacks. Maybe we'll be dog sitting again? They chose at the spur of the moment to go to the Tigers game last night and watrched Verlander pitch a no-hitter, the first in 23 years by a Tigers pitcher. They are elated

Mike Carroll, almost from Carrollton, an original signer of the Declaration of Independence - is looking for adventure. Stand back, no one's safe.

You forgot to mention that my adventure should be with a very nice lady with a little money, a lot of time, and an open mind. (I have had enough of the empty mind.)

Now you know you've been too busy with travels and sports to go anywhere! How about the Temple theater next Friday at 1:00 to see "Wind Blowing Barley"? It's part of the Film Festival and is about Ireland. There's a review in tonights paper. Alice
