Australian Leader Gets Blasted for Saluting Bush
"Prime Minister Kevin Rudd of Australia has been condemned by political rivals for saluting President George W Bush at a social gathering of Nato leaders in Bucharest, Romania.
Australian television has shown extensive coverage of the newly-elected Labor Prime Minister making the casual salute."

Yes - Kevin probably shouldn't be saluting, yet alone smiling at Bush. This is another storm in a teacup. It's not as if Kevin was wearing an American flag lapel pin! The silly thing is that our former prime minister John Howard was seen as Bush's lapdog, or called "shrub" (ie Little Bush), because he blindly followed Bush into Iraq so that he could strut the world stage as a wartime leader with the big Americans.
By the way - the opposition leader - Brendan Nelson whom you quoted as an approval rating of 9%. No one is listening to him here.
