Obama's patriotism #2

More on this question:
Summary: On his radio show, Bill O'Reilly replied to a caller who said she was "disturb[ed]" over an email she received about Sen. Barack Obama, showing he was "the only one with his hand not over his heart" during the "Pledge of Allegiance," and "over the lapel pin thing," by saying, "Well, I think that Obama needs to answer some questions about his point of view, not only on the USA, but on a lot of things, and he simply doesn't do it." click for more

and:
"... on the February 22 edition of HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher, Rep. Jack Kingston (Repub-GA) also raised the issue of Obama's patriotism, saying that Obama "won't put an American flag lapel pin on his coat" and falsely claiming that Obama "would not say the Pledge of Allegiance." Kingston went on to assert that we need to know where Obama "stand[s] on America." click for more

Who cares about the flag lapel pin? What a bit of tokenistic rot! We had a minister of immigration in the last government who was a member of Amnesty International and always wore their lapel pin. Meanwhile, he presided over a policy where asylums seekers in leaky boats were shot at and turned around. Those people who made it to the mainland were locked up in detention camps in the desert and treated like criminals. Lapel pins mean nothing. Now if Obama took to wearing an Uncle Sam outfit and singing Yankee Doodle Dandy - now that would mean something!
