Ok... so I'm on a roll today with this venting thing...

Scot, Liam and I were down in Florida just after the cold snap. Bud, Pat and the three of us went to a preserve/zoo for manatees and other injured wild animals in Homosassas Springs. Beautiful place. They had a presentation about the manatees and had mentioned exactly how the cold had affected the animals, and how they were, even two weeks later, still rehabilitated some manatees who had suffered from cold shock.

NOT A DAY LATER... in the coffee shop, I overhead a "lovely" older gentleman, speaking to his equally "lovely" companion that all the plants dying and citrus rotting, and animals suffering due to the cold were just more examples to use to disprove this "whole notion of global warming"... "It's certainly not happening here..."

I don't like stupid people- especially those who talk a lot and don't know they're stupid.

I don't like to see or hear stupid people either. That's why I rarely walk by a mirror!!

I hope you don't all think I am stupid just because I think the warming is real, but more of a natural cycle than man made.

The Vikings settled in North America around 1000 AD because Newfoundland was in a much warmer period then.
Then they had to leave in mid-millenium due to natural cooling of the earth.

Remember the year without a Summer in the 16 or 1700's ??
Now it is getting warmer again, and while man may have some effect on the climate, it is more likely a part of the natural cycle.

Isn't it possible that every 200 or 300 years the Earth's orbit varies a few million miles closer or further from the Sun ????
Can anyone find a site which estimates what the arctic ice cap was in 1000 or 1100 AD ?? I haven't been able to find it yet.

And remember, global warming will only raise the seas by the amount of melting above sea level. The ice below sea level will continue to be water below sea level.

Sorry about sounding so much like the hated Republicans.

And I built my body without steroids !!!!!

I never would have guessed the sans steriods bit. Way to go.
