I don't understand the controversy over Gilbert Arenas.
He's the man who carried his guns into the NBA locker room. The guns evidently got shown around, maybe pointed, maybe used as threats. It's a little hard to figure out what happened when the news has to be strained through sportscasters and other hired mouthpieces whose job it is to deceive and obfuscate.
What's wrong with guns? Yes, I'm serious. Everyone knows that entrepreneurs in America need armed protection. We are talking about people who are among the top 1% in income in this country. They're logical targets of the poor and downtrodden who have to pay $75 or more for a ticket to look at their muscles and observe their massive talent to toss a big ball. These gentlemen go into dangerous places like basketball locker rooms which are peopled by thugs who will, under the best of circumstances, often maim and attack each other even right there on the basketball floor. Imagine what could happen in the confines of showers and lockers where the public eye does not watch. And how many of those people in the stands are armed? I believe statistically we expect about 1/4 of them to be carrying.
How can a basketball player protect himself if he hasn't the ability to shoot it out with some malcontent who doesn't approve of the call, or the foul, or the errant "shot".
But, really, in this case, no one actually got shot. Carrying guns in this country is perfectly legal. Showing them around is perfectly legal. In most cases, firing them is perfectly legal. Al's well that ends well, eh?
And as for the morality of the situation? Hey, Arenas doesn't kill people. He's not a criminal. He's a star. The police should concentrate on capturing the real criminals and leave the ordinary law-abiding thugs alone.

The strangest part of this whole thing is that A. was not kick out indefinitely for carrying but for pointing his two fingers at another player on the court and saying bang-bang. Evidently pretending is more serious than reality.
