Condi Rice was invited to the Bushes' ranch for dinner. There, she noticed that George began every comment or question to his wife with endearing terms, calling her Honey, Darling, Sweetheart, or Bunny. Condi was touched by this display of affection and commented on it. When Laura was gone from the room, Condi said, “I think it’s wonderful that after all these years you still call your wife those cute little pet names.”
"Pet names?" said George. “To tell you the truth, I forgot her real name about 3 years ago.”
