Wacko of the Week -- 03/08/08

UNKNOWN GUY:
A guy puts a small explosive device in a backpack and rides a bicycle into Times Square at 3:00 a.m. when even the street cleaners have gone to bed, and blows it up in front of an army recruiting station when no one is there, and leaves no message for the world to mull over.

This is a person with very, very low aspirations, and nothing to show for his puny furtive efforts except some lost sleep and possibly life in prison.

Sort of reminds one of those guys in the dorms who, for the entertainment of other drunks, will light their own flatus. This time, though, the whole world can giggle because it's on all the networks.

=====
Honorable mention:

SEAN LAWRENCE GILBERT, 31, of Roseville, California, a prison parolee who, for reasons as yet unfathomed, put a siren on his pickup truck and stopped cars in town pretending to be a police officer. The truck, toy gun, and lack of a badge or uniform didn't fool some people. And Sean was easy to find, because he had a personalized license plate on his truck. This was a sure give-away.
He's back in jail.
