fatigue

I saw this headline today, and now I want to make a confession.
Hamas leaning toward signing Shalit deal
It used to be that I paid close attention to what was going on between Israel and the Palestinians. I guess I'm weakening, because I don't take anything over there as relevant to me anymore. Maybe it's fatigue?

I can understand the fatigue. I happened to get an email forwarded to me today written by a union aid abroad member who is in the Middle East at the moment - here's the text: "Today was the second day spent in the Palestinian refugee camp of Bouj al Barajneh (Beirut) - it is confronting and one that gave a feeling of (controlled) anger at their plight. 20,000 refugees inside one square km, with very little assistance, denied the right to return or compensation for their former homes. Their living conditions are a humanitarian shame.

Perhaps when those that stand up and take great pride in Australia being the first country to vote yes to the creation of Israel, may want to also take one moment to reflect on the plight of the refugees this created, including some who still hold the keys to their former homes. There is no doubt there are some that do not fully understand what occured."

I am chastised!

It's just that American diplomats and American dollars have become so ensnared in the process, and every pathway seems to lead only to another cliff.

Oh - I didn't mean to chastise you! I can understand the fatigue.
