Australia, duck!

This morning, EST, a cyclone moved into Queensland, Australia, including the city of Brisbane.

This is where our friend and correspondent IRENE and her FAMILY live. Everyone keep them in your thoughts until next we hear from them!

Ah - all fine here. We weren't affected at all. The Brisbane paper tried its hardest to send people into a panic every day last week. In the end, the super cyclone that was meant to wreck devastation and destroy us all made landfall 600 miles north in the Whitsundays, as barely a category 3. While it wiped out power and sugarcane crops, it was pretty tame. The paper is still trying to whip up a frenzy over some yachts that have washed ashore and some palm trees that have been uprooted on the beach....

P.S. The local paper is owned by Murdoch... need I say more.

I'm surprised that all the evangelicals haven't jumped on this yet. Obviously, you were all "saved" from certain death and destruction because you are all devout Christians and that truly, the Grace of God was with you. Those Whitsundays however, they obviously had more sin emanating from there to draw it away from fair Brisbane.

In any case, I'm glad you're alright :)
