Awh - a bit rough! His Off the Wall album was terrific, and I thought he was gorgeous back then. But then his life descended into weirdness and he lost me in about 1985.
Well, Irene, I do agree that they guy had an immense talent. He has abandoned and returned to the U.S. -- acrimoniously -- about 3 times, has led a bizarre existence which probably is the result of a tumultuous childhood, has dangled his baby off a balcony, has undergone the most public possible transmogrification of his face, has come to court in his jammies, and has blown billions on God-knows-what while little babies are starving all over the world. I'm just saying, "now beat it."
They're out to get you, better leave while you can Don't wanna be a boy, you wanna be a man You wanna stay alive, better do what you can So beat it, just beat it
Ok. The thing that annoys me is that the media and fans are in a frenzy, which isn't surprising, but over what? The death of a man you described above? What is wrong with people?
The songs that provide a backdrop for your coming of age stay with you the whole rest of your life. For me, several of these songs were written and performed by Michael Jackson. Regardless of his personal life, I grieve his passing for this reason.
MARGARET - Good point! Everyone has their peccadilloes, and most of us are real lucky those never make the headlines. It's all part of the condition of being human.
On the other hand, of course, how many guys try to buy the bones of the Elephant Man?

I don't know this for a fact, but my suspect was that he was undergoing a sex change to a white female.
Irene, I always enjoy your comments.

I always wondered whether this screwball was castrated to maintain that awful voice----
Would have made the child abuse charges moot.
Why are we canonizing this creep??
Dashmann, just for the record. It's possible to commit rape without a penis.
Margaret;
A point well taken.
A broken poker is merely a hinderance - not a show stopper.
Just think of all those female schoolteachers that have surfaced the last few years too.
Dashmann---where do you think all the misguided and horrific things of the world got learn ed? Teachers of course!!
Alice;
I will always love you---
Johnny
Dashmann, Ain't friends grand?
