Police in South Carolina say a 12-year-old trick-or-treater was killed Friday when a convicted felon fearing a robbery fired nearly 30 rounds with an assault rifle from inside a house.

Sumter police Chief Patty Patterson says T.J. Darrisaw died after being shot several times. His father and nine-year-old brother were also shot, but were treated in hospital and released.

Hi Bud, it has been a while. I had not heard about the incident in SC.

Your post says it all. Mr. Patrick, the "suspect", is a convicted felon. He illegally possessed a firearm. He illegally used the firearm he shouldn't have had. However, laws don't prevent anything. They only proscribe behaviors considered harmful and unlawful and set forth the punishment on conviction. And, as a convicted felon, Mr. Patrick has no 2nd Amendment right to keep and bear arms.

As to the Uzi incident, look at

Robb covers it.

Thanks for your comment, Blue. I'm happy to hear from you as well. Here's an interesting coincidence. Today, our newspaper was delivered (thrown onto the driveway) wrapped in a little plastic wrapper which advertises the NRA and calls for Obama's defeat, "to protect liberty". The lady of the house is outraged.
