Here is the very best reason for people to be able to carry their guns into any place they like. Again, the question is whether everyone having weapons would have prevented this scene out of fear, or would it have escalated into some mass slaughter.

No, not really. When we were in Arizona years ago, we stopped at a rest stop and there was a guy with a big gun on his hip. There were probably six or eight other people around, and I felt very vulnerable. It was a terrifically eerie sensation for me, because I had never seen anyone with a gun on. Other than the police, more damage is done by people carrying guns for safety reasons than any professed safe haven proclaimers. Recent example, the man who shot his soon to be bride as an intruder.
