hi and "help!"

I have to hand it to AirTran. In the dead of winter, they got us every where they said they would, and on time, and they didn't bump us at all. Of course, we weren't checking luggage.

From 36F to 67F in 3 hours. Bright sunshine.

Was George W. Bush right? He said if we could establish a democracy in one place in the Middle East, it would spread to the whole region.

I am having a terrible time trying to answer this question, now. I haven't been able to ever accept anything he says as being right. Who will help me?

Please,
you have to comment on this thught, one of my newer deepest fears.

I hope democracy is spreading but if it is I suspect there's the same causal relationship between it and the invasion of Iraq as there was between Reagan's "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall" and the fall of the Soviet system.

Wouldn't that be a kick in the ass?

Don't fret. Another way to look at it is that the US did not have to establish a democracy in the Middle East, the people of the Middle East could do that themselves. The US only forced the situation - and I doubt if people in the Middle East look to Iraq as a model of a successful democracy.

The reality is that whoever or whatever gets credit for these movements doesn't matter. The main thing is that it is happening. The credit will obviously depend on which political religion one worships. The concern should be what happens if the "democracy" movement fails to extablish a democratic govenment and a theocracy is established. I think that has happened in that area of the world at least once before.

I agree with Irene. When people finally get pushed to the limit they stand up and make changes. What's our limit? Amnesty International and 3 other organizations filed papers with Swiss courts to have Bush arrested and chargers with war crimes if he showed up in that country to speak. He canceled his appearance. An African country(can't remember which one-might have been Nigeria) also kept him out of Africa with the same proposal. He is scheduled to appear in Canada on October 20th and the same three organizations have said they plan to repeat the Swiss filing in Canadian courts.

I,too, have to struggle to admit I agree with GWB on anything but I agree that we need to find a away to legalization of undocumented peoples in this conutry. If your government took your land and gave it to multinational agricultural corporations and you had no means of sustenance for yourself or your family AND you knew that in another part of the world there was a chance for survival if you could get there. What would you choose? Starvation and death or survival?

Moving in search of opportunity for you and your family was virtuous when white European people did it.

Thanks for the comments. I believe the movement will keep spreading.
