For whatever reason I've decided to re-read Voltaire's "Candide" - I love Candide's tutor, Pangloss, who believed that every thing was for "the very best," no matter how disagreeable it was. Helps me understand how people today find a way to vote against their own interest.
She's one of my favourite authors, but I haven't read this one.
