John (Mellencamp) was touring. He had it set up so that Donovan would come out and do a mini-set in the middle of John's set. And, he'd come on stage during "Pink Houses" and sing a verse. Stephen King was touring with John (meaning: he was hanging out with John because they are/were writing a musical together) and would come on stage during "Pink Houses" and play guitar. So, I was standing side/back stage and the next thing I knew, the two of them were in their pre-Pink Houses joining of John rituals. Stephen's was pretty much just pacing around semi-nervously. Donovan's was more of a dancing like a...fairy(?)...kind of thing.
Did I ever tell you about the time I stood between Donovan and Stephen King as they were preparing to go onstage? Was interesting, it was.
